Lalli
According to a Finnish legend, on January 20, 1156, Lalli, a yeoman killed Bishop Henry on frozen Lake Köyliö, in south western Finland, after the latter had allegedly failed to pay for the food and drinks provided by the former. Soon after the murder, some eleven miracles are reported to have happened, among them; the bishop’s thumb healing a blind old angler. For Christian believers, the bishop became a saint, but for the rebellious people of Köyliö, Lalli became a hero, to whom they erected a statue in 1989.
